Counselling and therapy in Edgware

Counsellor in North West London, Edgware, Middlesex .

AS COUNSELLING IS LIKELY TO BE A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR YOU, A FREE INITIAL SESSION IS OFFERED WITHOUT ANY OBLIGATION.

My name is Pauline Drizen and I am a very experienced qualified counsellor in London. We are all individuals with our own different personalities and issues.
I became a counsellor because I had bereavement counselling following my father's death from cancer. I found this counselling very helpful and supportive and I wanted to help other people to ensure that they too could benefit from counselling. I believe that we have inherent personal resources to cope with life's demands and issues but sometimes we need extra support.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor MBACP (Accred) and have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, a Post Qualifying Certificate in CBT and a BSc Honours degree. Also, I have a Certificate in Bereavement Counselling.

I use CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) to help with coping strategies in anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. I abide by the Code of Conduct and Ethics of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am based in Edgware in North West London. I am available as a one-to-one counsellor in London on weekdays and evenings and I have some weekend slots too.

Counselling can be a tremendous help if you have problems. You can benefit from talking through and exploring your thoughts and feelings. This “talking therapy” can help you to offload your burdens and problems. Most people experience emotional difficulties at some point in their lives which can be resolved without professional help. However, some difficulties cannot easily be resolved and seeing a suitably qualified therapist can be very useful during these periods.

Therapy provides time for deep self-reflection. It always provides an opportunity to discover often complex and largely unknown ways in which past experiences are unhelpfully influencing the present. This can inhibit intellectual and emotional development. CBT can also help with coping strategies in your life.

As well as working in my private practice, I work as a counsellor in a GPs practice. I trained and work at Highgate Counselling Centre, which over a long period of time, has given me the opportunity of working with clients of all ages with different issues. Also, I work at Age Concern with the elderly and Barnet Carers, counselling carers who look after dependent relatives or partners.

There are a variety of areas that I am experienced at treating. These include:
  • stress
  • relationships
  • adoption
  • couple counselling
  • divorce
  • anger
  • anxiety and phobias
  • panic attacks
  • depression
  • post-natal depression
