My name is Pauline and I am a fully qualified BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working from my consulting rooms in Edgware. During the pandemic, I offer remote sessions on zoom, FaceTime and WhatsApp and now I offer face to face.

Important issues are often connected to work, financial matters, relationships and domestic violence, loneliness, depression, anxiety about the future and bereavement.


I am a warm and empathetic therapist and my main aim is to fulfil the emotional needs of my client and listen and understand. As a CBT Therapist, I aim to give the client tools and techniques to help them work through their issues like Anxiety, Depression, Relationship problems, Work, Bereavement or Trauma (PTSD).

My speciality is in Depression, Anxiety and Trauma. Most people at some time in their lives become depressed, anxious or traumatised - Depression can be caused by external events like redundancy, relationship break-ups, illnesses, losses and bereavements.

In my clinical practice, I work with many modalities - CBT, Counselling, EMDR and I am a supervisor for other therapists.

I work with equality and diversity. I work with children, adults, couples and families. I also work with disability, visually impaired, clients with pain and in wheel chairs.

I have worked in the NHS online with adults and children with Complex cases including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, BPD and using CBT and EMDR . I currently work for the Priory working with adults and children and adolescents treating their depression, anxiety, trauma , eating disorders and addictions.
I have also treated dentists, doctors and nurses in the NHS .

QUALIFICATIONS

I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and BACP Accredited Counsellor MBACP (Accred). I am on the BABCP Register for CBT Therapists. I am also a UKRCP Independent Registered Counsellor and also I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I am a BABCP Accredited CBT therapist. I have the BABCP Full Accreditation. Also I have a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT at MSc Level, a Post Qualifying Certificate in CBT and a BSc Honours degree. Also, I have a Certificate in Bereavement Counselling and a Certificate in Supervision. I am an EMDR Practitioner (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing - a useful treatment for a range of problems including Trauma) EMDR Parts 1,2,3 and 4.

CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) is the evidence base therapy recommended by the NICE Guidelines for GAD generalised anxiety, depression, anger, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders(PTSD)(particularly for road traffic accidents) and eating disorders.
I abide by the Code of Conduct and Ethics of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).I also abide by the guidelines of BABCP Code of Ethics.


Other areas that I am very experienced in are couple counselling , relationship counselling and domestic violence. Also, I do counselling for clients with addictions like alcohol, smoking and drugs, gambling, pornography and retail therapy as well as many addictions from the internet . Eating disorders are another major area of my work including binge eating, anorexia and bilumia

My specialization is also in bereavement, sexual issues, work related problems and autism. Areas of autism which I cover are Asperger's syndrome and ADHD and ADD.

I work currently in EAPs (Employee Assistance programmes) as a counsellor/CBT therapist/ EMDR therapist with workplace issues- ,trauma, bullying and harassment, stress, redundancy, personal issues including couple counselling, insomnia, bereavement, anxiety, depression and relationships. Rehabilitation - to empower employees to return to work is a major part of this work.

Another important area of my work is medical legal work including road accidents , personal injuries and workplace injuries and I work with insurance companies, psychological services and solicitors.

CURRENT/PAST PRACTICE
As well as working in my private practice, I worked as a counsellor in a GPs practice. I trained and worked at Highgate Counselling Centre, which over a long period of time, gave me the opportunity of working with clients of all ages with different issues. Also, I worked at Age Concern with the elderly and Barnet Carers. Also, I worked as an assessor at Mind in Camden .
I worked at BACS (Brent Alcohol Counselling Service) as a counsellor and a supervisor, helping clients with alcohol dependency reduce their drinking and try eventually to abstain from drinking alcohol. I also work with clients with drug problems ,both adults and adolescents and help them to face their problems in to order reduce and finally abstain from taking drugs. I have worked as a facilitator running support groups for victims of Domestic Violence.
Also, I work as an affiliated counsellor for EAPs (Employee Assisted Programmes) for different organizations and businesses dealing with issues in the work place like stress management, critical incident debriefing, bullying, work phobia, redundancy and career counselling. Also, I work with traumas including road traffic accidents, rape, domestic violence and bereavements.
I currently work in Private Practice and for various CBT organisations doing rehabilitation, trauma work including Road traffic accidents and personal injuries and general CBT issues for children and adults.

    If you decide that counselling is for you, we can meet to discuss this. The standard procedure is to meet once a week for therapy in Edgware at the same time. Some clients decide that they would like to meet twice a week.
    Each session lasts for 50 minutes and appointments can be made most weekdays and some evenings.
    How long counselling lasts depends on many variables. However, we can agree to certain goals and regularly review progress.
    Short term counselling lasts 6 to 12 sessions or long term counselling for an extended period of time.

    Your particular difficulties and needs provide the focus for the Initial Consultation. This session will help you to explore your immediate concerns and if counselling or CBT can be of help to you. At all times personal information disclosed will be treated in the strictest confidence. Ongoing session times are 50 minutes long.
